Myths about crime prevention

Mythbusters

EUCPN’s mythbusters are short papers to counter misconceptions in crime prevention. For instance, that implementing prevention interventions will simply cause offenders to shift their activities to different locations, change their methods or find new targets. That awareness in and of itself is able to prompt behavioural change or that tackling organised crime only requires international solutions. Five mythbusters have been published, most of which are available in all EU languages.

Toolbox on high-risk victim groups

This toolbox discusses the main topic of the Czech Presidency of the EUCPN: the prevention of secondary and repeat victimisation among high risk victim groups within society. The first paper entails theoretical information as well as practical examples for practitioners to use in their work with high risk victim groups. The second paper provides an overview of the participants of the 2022 European Crime Prevention Award. The toolbox will be published in December.

European Crime Prevention Award 2022

This year, the theme of the European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA) and Best Practice Conference (BPC) is working with a particularly vulnerable crime victim. The aim is to exchange experiences and good practices; most importantly in the areas of early identification of victims, prevention of secondary victimisation/re-victimisation and how to increase motivation to report crimes and thus to reduce the latency of crime. The winners of the #ECPA2022 will be announced on 9 December in Prague.
